Enjoy a Show at the Bankhead Theater

The goal is noble and the setting spectacular: at the Bankhead Theater, affordable and accessible art and performance enlivens the Livermore community.

The Bankhead Theater is one of three venues operated by the non-profit Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center.

Late Nite Catechism

Nov. 20, 8pm

Catechism classes were never so much fun – or as hilarious – as in this uproarious piece of interactive stand-up comedy. Travel back in time, nostalgically … or fearfully, to catechism classes with an irrepressible Sister who goes from benevolent instructor to authoritative drill sergeant ready to rap the ruler across your knuckles at a moment’s notice. With warm humor that somehow manages to be both respectful and unquestionably funny, Late Nite Catechism is a laugh-filled night for everyone.

Christmas with the Celts

Dec. 1, 7:30pm

An exhilarating stage show with an eternal message of hope, “Christmas with The Celts” combines ancient Irish and Scottish Christmas carols dating back to the 12th century, with modern drum beats and pop vocal styles. Originally a pledge broadcast on PBS, the show features renowned Irish group The Celts, the Gael String Orchestra, and skilled Irish singers and dancers. A perfect blend of old and new, this evening of spontaneous humor and warmth leaves everyone ready for the holiday joy to come.

Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno—Navidad en Mexico

Dec. 6, 2pm

A special “south-of-the-border” showcase shares the fun and excitement of a true holiday fiesta. Beginning with the traditional posada, a procession led by Mary and Joseph, colorful costumes and festive songs and dances ignite the senses with the spirit of the vibrant Mexican culture.
