The Livermore farmers market opened in 1997–long before farmers markets were in vogue. Now you can visit the Livermore farmers market on Thursdays from 4-8, starting in late April and lasting through early October each year.
As part of the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association, the Livermore farmers market is a community staple for fresh produce and a celebration of the region’s bounty.
Where to Go
The Livermore Thursday Farmers Market is open in Carnegie Park on Thursday evenings during the market season. With more than 50 producers, you have a huge variety of produce and vendors to choose from. It’s so popular, some market days draw crowds of thousands.
What to Do
Although the main draw to the Livermore farmers market is of course the produce, there are fun events and happenings to make your Thursday evening farmers market trip a family outing.
Run in conjunction with the Livermore Parks and Recreation Department, the first Thursdays of each month are set up as family nights. Local businesses and community groups come together to offer family-friendly activities and fun.
On the third Thursdays, you should come thirsty. Thirst Thursdays feature live music and wines available from some of Livermore’s many excellent local wineries.
What to Get
Of course fruits and veggies are to be expected at any farmers market. But the Livermore farmers market has much more to offer. Our local producers include locally made olive oil, organic stone fruits, and even Modesto Junior College Ag Department fresh eggs.
You’ll find an array of freshly baked artisan breads, olives and pasta, sea food, sorbet, and a range of BBQ, gyros, tamales, teriyaki chicken and beef, roasted corn and potatoes, tofu and even crepes available to satisfy the appetite you work up while shopping. And bring your kitchen knives: you c can get them sharpened while you stroll the market.
We also have a Livermore Sunday Market that open year-round rain or shine on Sundays from 9-1pm on 2nd street between J & K Street. You’ll be able to shop seasonal fruits and vegetables, both organic and conventional, and you can get your knives, scissors and gardening tools sharpened while you shop the market on Sundays, too.
