Carnival rides, concerts, cotton candy, cattle drives—the Alameda County Fair has it all!

One of the biggest events in the region – and one of the best festivals in the Bay Area – is the Alameda County Fair. This year’s fair promises to make the “Best. Summer. Ever.” This year the Fair will run 20 full days from Friday, June 16, through Sunday, July 9. (For more on the area, download our free area vacation guide!)

The Fair encompasses everything from the Red, White and Brew Festival to a 4th of July Fireworks show, and so much more! Read on to find out more about the Alameda County Fair, so you can start planning your adventure! You can see more great annual events at the Alameda County Fairgrounds website.

Alameda County Fair Cattle Drive

Get ready to “saddle up” and head down to Main Street, Pleasanton, for Alameda County Fair’s first-ever, big-time Cattle Drive! Held on June 16 from 10:30-11:30 am, you’ll see real cowboys and cowgirls in action as they guide a mighty herd through the center of town to celebrate opening day at the Fair.

Carnival Rides

A fair wouldn’t be complete without a carnival midway, and Alameda’s is impressively huge. Here’s just a fraction of the classic rides you’ll find…

Super Shot Drop Tower: A 12-passenger, 90-foot accelerated freefall!

Inversion: The main arm of the ride swings side to side like a pendulum then swings to invert passengers completely around and upside down. The inversion can reach a height of nearly 80 feet.

White Water Log Flume: Logs hold two passengers each and patrons make their way up two different hills. Once the log reaches the top, it descends rapidly splashing at the bottom of the water slide.

Big Top: A circus-themed funhouse with a beautiful color changing LED light show.

Giant Wheel: The majestic Giant Wheel dominates the Midway day and night, offering patrons a sweeping view from a height of nearly 100 feet!

The Grand Carousel: For decades, audiences have been awed by the beautifully handcrafted carousel. To witness The Grand Carousel is to see this piece of Americana in all its glory.

Alameda County Fair Concerts

If rides and cotton candy aren’t really your thing, not to worry. The Fair features an array of concerts, all starting at 8 pm, with music for all tastes. New, expanded reserved seating options for headline shows, but all concerts are FREE (w/ admission) seats available at every concert on a first-come-first-served basis.

Overflow seating with live, big screen video always available at the Concert Lawn area located just outside the amphitheater.

This year’s concert performers include Sugar Ray, Con Funk Shun, Plain White T’s, Clint Black, America, Wynonna & the Big Noise, and many more!

Important Dates to Know

The Fair will open on a Friday instead of a Wednesday and then run Wednesday through Sunday for the first two full weeks (closed Mondays & Tuesdays, June 19, 20, 26, 27). The Fair will be open every day of the final week including the annual Fireworks Spectacular celebration on Tuesday, July 4th.
