Everything You Need to Know About Visiting Wood Family Vineyards

How it All Got Started

It all started with a pregnant pilot. At that time, now winemaker Rhonda Woods worked for an airline whose policy was that pregnant employees begin their leave as soon as they knew of their pregnancy. This started a nine-month hiatus from work for Woods. When she wasn’t down and out from pregnancy, she was exploring various hobbies with her newfound free time.

After experimenting with homemade brewing techniques, the natural order seemed to demand winemaking as the couple’s next endeavor. The Woods started small and planted 18 vines on their property. Eventually, they moved their vines to a plot of land in Livermore Valley in 1995 after attending the Harvest Wine Celebration. The pair have been tending to the vines and growing their business ever since.

Wood Family Vineyard’s Trophy Case

The Wood Family’s blends have won numerous awards over the years from local and national prestigious competitions. They’ve even earned 90 points from Wine Enthusiast  for the Chardonnay “Para Mas Amigas.” This blend has won many awards over the years, the most recent in 2019.
