How It All Began
Cedar Mountain Winery and Port Works is owned by Earl and Linda Ault, who believe quality wine begins in the vineyard. And there is no better place to start an award-winning winery than in the beautiful and renowned Livermore wine country. It\’s known historically as one of the best places for vineyards! The Aults show off their artistic creativity in their outstanding wines and ports, but they are also known for their sculptures, paintings, and culinary art.
Cedar Mountain Winery traces its roots back to the 1970s, when Earl Ault, a physicist, became interested in the wine production industry. With his wife, Linda, who is an amateur chef and wine aficionado, they purchased the 20-acre farm that would become the Cedar Mountain Winery. With careful grafting, the Aults transformed the Chenin Blanc vineyard into Cabernet and Chardonnay grapes and began producing their Gold Medal award-winning wines soon after.
Cedar Mountain Winery\’s Exceptional Wines and Tasting Room
Cedar Mountain has since released many exceptional wines. Their Estate Chardonnay, Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Estate Sauvignon Blanc are all renown for their quality. Earl Ault also has taught himself the methods of fortified wine production, which resulted in the creation of port wines along the style and quality of the European original ports. The Cedar Mountain Winery’s selection of ports has since become very well known as some of the best around.
In 2013, the Aults sold their 20-acre property and built a beautiful new Winery and Tasting Room and just two miles away from their original property. During the summer months, Cedar Mountain Winery loves to host what they call “Grill and Chill” events. You bring your own food, they supply the grill, coals and live band and they have wine and small snacks available for purchase. It’s a great time for a cookout in the California sunshine surrounded by the beauty of the Livermore wine country. Enjoy the music and relax with old friends, or even meet new ones! And don’t forget your dancing shoes!
Cedar Mountain Winery strives to showcase the flavor of the famed historic Livermore Valley wine country with every bottle of wine they produce. Their label has become nationally recognized for quality and excellence of taste. In fact, you can find their bottles in stores across the country!
You\’ll find the Cedar Mountain Winery at 10843 Reuss Road in Livermore, CA. Hours may vary seasonally, so please visit the website or call ahead. They are generally open Friday through Sunday from 12 – 4 p.m. If you happen to be traveling with a group of 6 or more, please be sure to make a reservation.
