The Livermore Valley is chock full of outstanding wineries. It’s a tough choice to figure out which Livermore Valley wineries to visit. Livermore Valley is a spectacular place to grow and make wine. Influenced by a variety of well-drained soils, the relative high altitude of the valley and daily, summer maritime breezes, the region’s grapes yield outstanding, award-winning wines.

Wood Family Vineyards
Wood Family Vineyards is a family run winery that specializes in limited production handcrafted wines, Owners Rhonda and Michael, and their children, show their passion for wine and belief that winemaking begins in the vineyard. The outstanding terroir is what led them to Livermore Valley. They are tireless champions about the quality of Livermore Valley soils and their commitment to Valley grown grapes.
The winery is open for tasting by appointment and for scheduled winery events.
Bent Creek Winery
Featuring a backdrop of an oak-dotted ridge and surrounded by vineyards, the Bent Creek Winery commands spectacular views of the valley. Bent Creek is dedicated to making fine wines from the grapes of Livermore Valley vineyards. In addition to prize-winning red wines and white wines, you can also taste a variety of ports.
Visitors are invited to enjoy quality, handcrafted wines in a serene setting that seems miles away from the pressures of civilization.
McGrail Vineyards and Winery
The McGrail Vineyards and Winery prides itself on making premium estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon. Visit the tasting room from Thursday to Sunday, noon-4:30pm. McGrail loves its location in the heart of the Livermore Valley Wine Country and is proud to be part of one of the oldest California Wine Regions.
Located just past Poppy Ridge Golf Course, this winery’s beautiful views from the patio and a sprawling lawn are ideal for enjoying picnics.
The tasting room here is also open Thursday to Sunday, noon-4:30pm.
Big White House
Big White House specializes in handcrafted, small-lot, luxury wines of rare quality with an emphasis on Rhone-type varieties. This winery actually hosts two labels: Big White House and the premium label, John Evan Cellars.
Unlike some Livermore Valley wineries, the atmosphere here is casual and informal, which is reflected in the tasting room. You’ll have intimate opportunities to learn about the wine from the winemaker, John Evan Marion.
Most weekends several barrels are available for tasting with wine thieved directly from the barrel to your glass.
Caddis Winery
Caddis is dedicated to the production of premier small-lot wines. Owner and winemaker Chris Sorensen, with 15+ years of experience in the wine industry and being a native of the Livermore Valley, has learned the nuances of the trade and the area.
At this time Caddis has very limited openings, just about times a year. Open weekends are listed on the winery’s events page on its website.
3 Steves Winery
The name says it all. Founders Steve Burman, Steve Melander and Steve Ziganti were friends and part-owners of a boutique winery before founding their own label.
The Steves open their winery every weekend and promise at least one of them will be there to show you around, serve you in a tasting, and generally share their passion for vino. This is one of the Livermore Valley wineries that also offers picnicking areas and welcomes pets.
